Stove Top Smothered Steak. Recipe for an easy way to make an inexpensive meat into a tender and juicy meal.
Stove Top Smothered Steak
- 4 to 5 slices of chuck steak
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 medium onion diced
- 4 to 5 medium peeled potatoes optional
- 3 to 4 Carrots scraped and cut in half, optional If using carrots I parboil them first for about 15 minutes. This keeps the dish from tasting too much like carrots.
Flour meat by coating in flour with salt and pepper.
Fry meat in oil on stove until lightly brown.
Add 1/4 cup of flour with 3/4 cup WARM water in separate bow. Mix well.
Add the flour mixture to the frying meat and stir until well mixed.
Add another cup of WARM water and stir.
Add peeled potatoes and carrots if you wish.
Turn stove on simmer for one hour.
